Christopher Makin ha avuto una stagione molto impegnativa nel 2007 con il Southampton. Iniziò l'anno giocando il 1 gennaio contro il Plymouth Argyle, entrando in campo e giocando 44 minuti. Purtroppo, il giorno 6 gennaio in una partita di FA Cup contro il Torquay United, ebbe un brutto infortunio e fu costretto ad uscire dal campo al 24 minuto.
Dopo un periodo di recupero, Makin tornò in campo il 10 febbraio nella partita di Championship contro il West Bromwich Albion, giocando tutta la partita. Continuò a dare il suo contributo alla squadra, giocando intere partite contro Ipswich Town, Wolves e Preston North End, ma dovette lasciare il campo al 79 minuto nella partita contro il Cardiff City il 5 marzo.
Nonostante alcuni infortuni durante la stagione, Makin dimostrò di essere un giocatore prezioso per la squadra. Il 13 marzo, nella partita contro il Cardiff City, entrò in campo e giocò 44 minuti, segnando la parità al 2-2. Tuttavia, la stagione si concluse con una sconfitta per il Southampton nella Championship Playoff contro il Derby County, con Makin che uscì dal campo al 71 minuto.
Makin tornò in campo nella nuova stagione, giocando tutte le partite di Championship contro Luton Town, Birmingham City, Norwich City, Queens Park Rangers, Watford e Colchester United. Durante la partita contro il Crystal Palace il 11 agosto, Makin ricevette un cartellino giallo per un fallo.
Il calciatore continuò a dare il suo contributo alla squadra, giocando anche nella EFL Cup contro il Peterborough United. La sua ultima partita con il Southampton fu una vittoria contro il Watford il 16 settembre, in cui giocò tutta la partita.
Nonostante gli alti e bassi della stagione, Christopher Makin dimostrò di essere un calciatore affidabile per il Southampton, sempre pronto a dare il suo contributo in campo.
