La carriera di Birkir Bjarnason è stata ricca di successi e di partecipazioni a competizioni di alto livello. Iniziamo dal 2005/06, quando Bjarnason ha iniziato a fare le prime esperienze nel calcio professionistico con il Viking Stavanger in Eliteserien, il massimo campionato norvegese. Nei suoi primi anni, Bjarnason si è affermato come una giovane promessa, giocando per il Viking Stavanger e segnando gol importanti. Nel 2007/08, si è trasferito al FK Bodo Glimt, dove ha continuato a macinare gol e a dimostrare il suo talento.
Nel 2009/10, Bjarnason è tornato al Viking Stavanger e ha avuto una stagione eccezionale. Dopo una breve ma impressionante esperienza in Belgio, Bjarnason è tornato in Norvegia nel 2010/11 e ha continuato a giocare per il Viking Stavanger. Ancora una volta, ha dimostrato di essere un attaccante formidabile, registrando una serie di assist e guidando la sua squadra verso il successo.
Nel 2012/13, Bjarnason si è trasferito in Italia per giocare nel Pescara in Serie A. Ha dimostrato la sua abilità nel calcio italiano, segnando gol importanti e fornendo assist decisivi. La sua carriera in Italia è continuata con una stagione in Serie B con il Brescia nel 2014/15, dove ha continuato a lasciare il segno con le sue prestazioni di alto livello.
Dopo il periodo in Italia, Bjarnason ha avuto l'opportunità di giocare per il Basel in Svizzera, dove ha continuato a crescere e a mostrare il suo valore. Ha avuto la possibilità di giocare in UEFA Champions League e in Europa League, dimostrandosi all'altezza delle competizioni internazionali.
