Jermain Defoe è un calciatore inglese nato il 7 ottobre 1982 a Beckton, Londra. La sua carriera calcistica è stata ricca di successi e ha avuto l'opportunità di giocare in diverse squadre di alto livello in Inghilterra e in Scozia.
Defoe iniziò la sua carriera giovanile nel settore giovanile del Charlton Athletic prima di trasferirsi all'AFC Bournemouth nel 2000. Durante la stagione 2000/01, Defoe fece il suo debutto professionale con l'AFC Bournemouth in Premier League e segnò un gol nella FA Cup.
Dopo una sola stagione all'AFC Bournemouth, Defoe si unì al West Ham United nel 2001. Durante la sua permanenza al West Ham United, Defoe giocò 72 partite di campionato e segnò 26 gol. Durante la stagione 2002/03, Defoe si distinse come uno dei migliori marcatori del club, segnando 8 gol in 38 partite di campionato.
Nel gennaio 2004, Defoe si trasferì al Tottenham Hotspur, dove trascorse gran parte della sua carriera. Durante la stagione 2003/04, il suo primo anno completo con il club, Defoe segnò 7 gol in 15 partite. Durante la sua permanenza al Tottenham Hotspur, Defoe divenne noto per le sue capacità di marcatura, segnando regolarmente gol sia in campionato che nelle coppe nazionali.
Nel 2008/09, Defoe passò al Portsmouth, dove giocò una parte della stagione prima di tornare al Tottenham Hotspur nello stesso anno. Durante la stagione 2009/10, Defoe ebbe una delle sue migliori stagioni in Premier League, segnando 18 gol in 34 partite di campionato.
